Frequently Asked Questions About General Outpatient Program (OPT)

The OPT is the least intensive level of care offered at Beecon Recovery, designed for individuals who have graduated from the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). This program supports clients who have overcome active substance use but may still face life stressors that could impact their recovery journey.

OPT is perfect for individuals who have successfully managed their substance use but need continued support to navigate life stressors and maintain a high quality of life. It is suited for those who wish to reinforce relapse prevention skills while balancing work or school commitments.

Clients attending the OPT participate in treatment one day a week for four hours. This schedule provides the flexibility needed to integrate treatment with daily life activities, ensuring ongoing support without overwhelming time commitments.

The OPT includes individual and group therapy, addiction education groups, 12-step meetings, and therapeutic modalities such as neurofeedback and guided imagery. These offerings help clients maintain their recovery and manage stress effectively.

Clients benefit from once-a-week treatment that provides essential support from staff and peers. The program’s flexibility allows clients to manage their schedules while focusing on improving their quality of life and reinforcing their commitment to change.

The program focuses on strengthening relapse prevention skills through continuous therapy and support group participation. Clients learn to manage stress, improve problem-solving skills, and demonstrate a commitment to sustained recovery.

Neurofeedback is a valuable component of the OPT, helping clients manage mental health and cognitive functioning. It supports stress management and promotes mental clarity, aiding clients in maintaining their recovery.

Through individualized therapy and group sessions, clients learn to tackle life stressors, improve problem-solving abilities, and maintain a balanced lifestyle. The program encourages clients to find solutions independently while continuing to utilize available support groups.

To graduate, clients must maintain employment or education, effectively manage stress, achieve abstinence from drugs and alcohol, complete all program requirements, and actively work with a mentor. Consistency and engagement in support groups are key components for graduation.

The OPT equips clients with essential life skills, reinforcing their ability to handle stress and make informed decisions. By the end of the program, clients are expected to have a solid support system, a reassessed relapse prevention plan, and the ability to manage their responsibilities independently.
